The Emotional Draining Time Of Having A Baby
It is a wonderful gift to be a parent and even though it is hard work, everything you put into being a parent is rewarded. At first you might have to spend a lot of money buying clothes and baby bath towels. There seems so much to buy and you wonder where you are going to get all the money from to be able to afford everything. It is good when you receive gifts from family and friends.
When you have a baby it can be difficult to get into a routine again. The main reasons for not being able to get into routines is because you have to shape your life around your baby. You have now got to organise everything so that your life fits in with your baby. This means that you might find yourself eating meals at a different time.
You might have always sat down at the dining room table to eat, but now you might not be able to do that. You might have to change your meal times around to fit in with the baby. The times where you sat down to eat a meal might be gone. The time spent on your favourite dining room chair is no more. It can be an exciting time but, also extremely emotional. Many parents have a difficult time adjusting to the lifestyle changes.
It can be difficult having enough money to buy everything, but good friends will buy you things as well. Many people give others old baby clothes that they do not use anymore. It can be really good receiving hand me downs as it saves you money having to buy everything. At first it might seem like your life has been turned upside down.
If you breast feed it can be emotionally draining and all you might seem to do is feed. The time you had for yourself and partner just disappears. Suddenly it seems that everything revolves around the baby.
If you are breast feeding it can be much more stressful. Your baby might want to feed all of the time. You could consider expressing milk which can take the pressure off a bit. Using a double breast pump can be a good way of ensuring your baby is getting enough milk.
Sometimes you will be so tired that you just need a little rest and expressing milk can give you that time. Some babies eat less than others whilst others seem to spend all their time feeding. Being a parent can be extremely rewarding but, at the same time it can be an emotional roller coaster. One minute you might be up and the next down. Emotions might be all over the place. This could be due to having hormone imbalances and your hormones returning to normal after having a baby. Your body will also need to time to recover. If you have had a Cesarean section then it will take longer for your body to repair and you might not be able to do the things that you were once able to do.
